Tornado Blamed For 4 Deaths In Mississippi

(Hattiesburg, MS)  —  A tornado that tore through Hattiesburg, Mississippi has claimed the lives of at least four people.

The early morning twister brought down power lines destroyed homes and collapsed buildings.  First responders have been going door to door to check for victims.

Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPress has signed an emergency declaration for the town.

Willam Carey University took a direct hit.

Due to extensive storm damage, the Hattiesburg campus is closed until further notice. Students will not be allowed to stay on campus. Arrangements are being made for students who live far away or do not have transportation.

There were no lives lost on the campus and less than a dozen students received nonlife-threatening injuries.
