Tax Cuts Praised, Condemned

Mississippi

A 415-million-dollar package of tax cuts is being praised by Mississippi’s lieutenant governor and condemned by Jackson’s newspaper.  Tate Reeves says the tax reductions for individuals and companies can help to grow the economy and make businesses more competitive.   But the Clarion-Ledger, in a rare front-page editorial, beggws Governor Bryant to veto the bill.  The House and Senate approved the phased-in reductions for individual income taxes and corporate franchise taxes while also providing some tax relief for Mississippians who are self-employed.
