OXFORD, Miss – A new community group officially allied with the Republican National Committee has formed in Lafayette County.
Entitled the “Oxford Pachyderm Club,” the group is the first chapter of the National Federation of Pachyderm Clubs in Mississippi. There are approximately 60 chapters across the country.
Founding members recently met and elected Russ Jones as president, Dion Kevin as treasurer, and Jackie Jones as secretary.
During his years in Kansas, Jones served as a board member of the Pachyderm Club in Wichita.
“I’m optimistic about this new endeavor during these critical times,” Jones said. “The Oxford Pachyderm Club will provide a platform for education, recruitment and broad citizen participation in the political process for volunteers as well as activists.”
Jones has served as a communication director for any number of political candidates and cause-oriented campaigns. In 2012 he coordinated social media campaigns for the pro-Newt Gingrich Winning Our Future Super PAC.
The Oxford Pachyderm Club operates as an enhancement to the Republican party rather than as a competitor.
Patterned after civic clubs, the Oxford Pachyderm Club is open to all Republicans. The club will meet on the first Tuesday of each month.
Oxford Pachyderm Club yearly dues are $60 per year. You do not need to be a member to attend luncheons.
